# Subscriptions

Use subscription records for recurring charges such as streaming services, software, cloud hosting, memberships, domains, or any service you want to track.

## Add a subscription

1. Click **Add subscription**.
2. Enter the subscription name.
3. Choose a category or add a new category.
4. Enter the amount and currency.
5. Choose the billing period: monthly, yearly, or custom.
6. Enter the last payment date.
7. Choose whether renewal notifications are enabled for this subscription.
8. Save the subscription.

The app calculates the next payment date from the last payment date and billing period.

## Billing periods

| Period  | Use it for                                    |
| ------- | --------------------------------------------- |
| Monthly | Charges that renew every month |
| Yearly | Charges that renew once a year |
| Custom | Charges that renew every fixed number of days |

For custom periods, enter the interval in days. For example, use `45` for a charge that repeats every 45 days.

## Edit a subscription

Open a subscription from the list, then choose edit. You can change the name, category, amount, currency, billing period, last payment date, custom interval, and notification setting.

Changing the last payment date or billing period updates the next payment date.

## Filter and sort

Use the dashboard controls to:

* Switch between monthly and yearly totals.
* Change the base currency.
* Filter by category.
* Sort by amount, name, category, next payment date, or creation date.
* Toggle ascending or descending order.

## Delete a subscription

Open a subscription and choose delete when you no longer want to track it. Deleting removes the record from your list.

If you are using the public API, cancellation and pause can preserve history. In the app UI, delete is the visible removal action.
